Associate Professor in Numismatics

A vacancy as Associate Professor (SKO 1011) in Numismatics, specializing in Northern European Middle Ages is available at the Museum of Cultural History, Section for Ethnography, Numismatics, Classical Archaeology and University History (SENKU).

The Museum of Cultural History (KHM) manages the largest archaeological, numismatic and ethnographic collections in Norway. The department has administrative responsibility for a significant collection of coins, banknotes and medals, from antiquity to modern times, and the most comprehensive numismatic library in the country. The museum has administrative responsibility for coin finds and exports of numismatics.

The research at the department is focused particularly towards the Viking Age and the Norwegian and northern European Middle Ages. In these areas, the museum has excellent collections, especially of Norwegian, Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon and German Viking Age coins.
