Youth Committee of the Royal Dutch Society for Numismatics

The Youth Committee of the Royal Dutch Society for Numismatics (http://www.koninklijkgenootschap.nl/) aims to promote numismatic studies and research under a public of young scholars, students and coin enthusiasts. For 2017, the Youth Committee of the Royal Dutch Society for Numismatics is making a grant available to a young scholar or (research)master student in order to allow him/her to publish his/her research as a monograph (with a minimum of 40 pages). For this year, the grant is designed for publications dealing with a subject about coinage or monetary history with a special relation to the Netherlands. The grant has a maximum of 750 euro which has to be used to finance the publication costs.

In order to be eligible for this grant, applicants must be less than 35 years old on December 31st 2017. Applications in Dutch or English should be sent to info@koninklijkgenootschap.nl with the subject Publication Grant Youth Committee_Surname no later than July, 1st 2017, and include:

-a motivation letter with contact details and a name of a referee

– a (preliminary) draft of the monograph

– a budget of the envisaged publication costs

Applications will be judged by a professional committee who will look after the originality of the monograph, its relation to the Netherlands, its contribution to the scientific debate and its readability. The condition for receiving the grant is a mentioning of the Royal Dutch Society for Numismatics in the prologue of the monograph.

There are no rules where to publish your monograph. Further questions can be addressed to Dr. Liesbeth Claes (l.claes@hum.leidenuniv.nl). Please circulate this call widely.
